Blog #7

Our PSA turned out really good. We think that our message got across clearly and people enjoyed it. What helped me learn alot was going to MTN during school and having sessions where were taught about angles, sounds, editing, etc. Also presenting in front of the class helped me learn alot. My group really used the feed back and it turned out that it helped us alot. The most challenging part of the project was coming up with a way to get our message across but we did after recieving feed back and changing our original idea. I'm not sure how the unit could be improved but I feel that it could have been a little better if we spent more time on it.

I feel that our groups PSA is very effective. Wehave some really good footage that people are going to like and it's going to reach out to them and spread the awareness that Anger is a serious issue that needs to be controlled. Also, although it's not a huge problem in our society, the people that are effected by it will enjoy and relate to it.

Falling Polar Bears

Our group does have what it takes. We have thought of many of the ideas talked about in the article and have alson decided to use some of them. I don't think my group would want to change anything after reading the articles but I deffinatly think that we would consider adding more to make it better. Are PSA is going to be effective by getting the audience into it right away and then keeping them into it throughout the entire thing and the really getting them with our slogan at the end.

Our group is currently still pondering on the video production process. We have ideas but we have not yet put all our ideas to make it official. We have mostly everything done but all that is left to do is make a couple tweeks and start filming. Working together has been fun and has worked together very well. We all have great ideas and when put together it wil be a good PSA. We havnt had many obstacles but when we've had them, they have been pretty big. The "Gabe" situation was an obstacle. Alot of the students took it as a joke but when we thought about it and used the feedback, we dicided to switch the protaganist and now it's looking alot better.

The most challenging part about our PSA so far has definatley been the story board and the thought process. It was very hard to think of a way to get our message across but through hard work and dedication we will prevail.

Our pitch went ok. We kind of brought up Gabe B too much and it came off as a joke to some people but we plan to make it serious. Our message is to the public and community. We want to make sure everyone is aware of anger management. We plan to show people getting angry and the outcomes getting worse and worse until he finally breaks and the to get the audience with our slogan: "control your anger before it controls you."

The role of PSA's in the media culture is to spread awareness of the topic. My group thought of anger management and just stuck with that ideas. We didn't really have any other ideas. We plan to make people aware that anger management is a serious issue and to make sure its not forgotten. "control your anger before it controls you." We all played pretty much the same role; we all contributed and thought of good ideas.

Blog Post #2

1) An advertisement that worked was the any size drink for $1 at McDonalds. The commercial that features Justin Morneau is one that is very effective. The reason it is so effective is because, not only does at least half the population eat McDonalds, when you add a superstar (Morneau) then kids and adults will want what they are advertising. Plus, $1 for any size drink is a good deal.

What I've learned from MTN.

I have learned alot from MTN in the last 2 presentations. I have learned how to look deeper into a piece of media and not just see what they want you to see. I have learned that everyhting is done for a reason not on accident. It is good to notice the lighting, sound, setting, etc. so that you can deeply understand everything. I havn't decided which clip I am going to use yet but I want to use a funny scene from a movie. Media literacy is so important because you need to be able to understand media so that you can understand what the artist is try to achieve in their piece.
